ONE. BALI and Ragam Foundation Reach 5,250 Meals Delivered to the Suwung Community

ONE. BALI has delivered 5,250 cooked meals to families living around TPA Suwung, Bali's largest landfill, through its ongoing partnership with Ragam Foundation.

ONE. BALI has delivered 5,250 cooked meals to families living around TPA Suwung, Bali's largest landfill, through its partnership with Ragam Foundation. The fresh made, hand cooked meals have gone out every month since the partnership began, not as a one-off donation.

The meals come from ONE. BALI's monthly commitment: 1,000 cooked meals a month for residents around the landfill, home to roughly 200 families with limited access to nutrition, sanitation, and stable income. Ragam Foundation, led on the ground by Nicolas, handles distribution and community relationships day to day.

"This isn't charity, and it isn't a photo opportunity. It's a recurring line item we treat with the same discipline and care as any operational commitment," said Elle Watson, Director of ONE. BALI.

The meal programme is the first stage of a three-part partnership between ONE. BALI and Ragam Foundation. The second stage, Rise & Nourish, already provides daily meals to 80 children and baking and business training to five women in the Suwung community, including Ibu Komang, who moved from landfill labor into independent baking through the programme.

Ragam Foundation and ONE. BALI are now raising funds for a permanent community kitchen to replace the temporary space used for meal preparation and training. Both organizations describe the meal programme as the base the rest of the partnership sits on, not a pilot that could be dropped.

"The principle we hold ourselves to is simple: we talk about what we've delivered, not what we intend to deliver! The underlying principles of ONE. BALI is guided by the philosophy of Tri Hita Kirana, Harmony with Nature, harmony among others & harmony with Spirit. This social impact programme is one example of our action towards harmony among others" Watson said.

ONE. BALI is a Bali-based circular economy venture working in plastic-to-oil pyrolysis and waste management across Indonesia and Southeast Asia. The Ragam Foundation partnership is one way it connects that work to the communities living near its waste sites.
